Polyurethane Balls / PUR Balls – Wear-Resistant Elastomer Balls for Valves, Pumps and Industrial Sealing
Polyurethane Balls, also known as PU balls or PUR balls, are elastomeric plastic balls designed for applications requiring abrasion resistance, resilience, shock absorption and reliable sealing contact. They combine rubber-like elasticity with better wear resistance than many conventional rubber materials, making them suitable for check valves, pumps, safety valves, screen cleaning systems, low-speed bearings and industrial mechanisms with repeated impact or dynamic contact.
SDBALLS supplies polyurethane balls in standard and customized sizes from 1.5 mm to 100 mm, with precision grades I, II and III available according to application requirements. Hardness, color, formulation, surface finish, dimensional tolerance and packing can be discussed for OEM projects where sealing behavior, wear life, chemical compatibility or repeated cycling performance is critical.

Обзор продукта
Polyurethane Balls / PUR Balls are high-performance elastomeric balls used where metal balls are too hard, rubber balls wear too quickly, or rigid plastic balls do not provide enough damping. The material offers a useful balance of abrasion resistance, elasticity, impact absorption and sealing behavior.
In industrial valve and pump assemblies, polyurethane balls can act as sealing elements that repeatedly contact seats and internal components. In screening or sorting equipment, they can help reduce material build-up and support cleaning action. In low-speed mechanical systems, they can provide quiet motion, non-marring contact and shock absorption.
Polyurethane is not a single fixed material. Its final behavior depends strongly on formulation, hardness, processing method and service environment. For this reason, hardness scale, working medium, temperature and dynamic load should be confirmed before quotation and sample approval.
Material Selection & Technical Positioning
Polyurethane balls should be selected when the application needs better abrasion resistance than standard rubber, more resilience than rigid plastics, and softer contact than metal balls. They are especially useful in sealing, damping, cushioning, screen cleaning and low-load rolling or sliding contact.
Compared with PP, PE, POM or PTFE balls, PUR balls are usually selected for higher elastic recovery, impact absorption and abrasion resistance. Compared with rubber balls, PUR often provides better tear resistance and longer wear life. Compared with steel or stainless steel balls, PUR balls are lighter, quieter, non-magnetic and non-marring, but they cannot replace metal balls in high-load precision bearing applications.
PUR balls are not recommended for steam, hot water, hot humid air, aromatic hydrocarbons, organic polar solvents, strong acids, strong alkalis or high-temperature continuous service unless the formulation has been specifically confirmed for that environment.

Manufacturing & Process Control
Polyurethane ball production should be controlled according to formulation, molding or forming process, curing condition, hardness requirement, diameter tolerance, surface quality and final inspection. Because PUR properties are formulation-driven, specification transfer is especially important for repeat orders.
- Confirm polymer formulation, hardness scale and target performance before production.
- Control molding or forming process to reduce surface defects, voids and dimensional variation.
- Inspect diameter, surface appearance, hardness and batch consistency according to agreed grade.
- For critical sealing projects, confirm sample approval before bulk production.
- For OEM assemblies, maintain batch traceability and repeat-order specification records.
